Cyan's Downsize
The Spokesman Review has an article by Tom Sowa about the downsizing at Cyan's QA business, CyanTest, and the cause.
From the article: Cyan Worlds lays off about 50 workers
Close to 50 workers who tested early versions of video games for other companies were laid off by Spokane-based Cyan Worlds recently, the company’s CEO said Tuesday.
Those workers tested beta versions of games by other game publishers. Last month, Cyan’s primary customer, Gamecock Media Group of Austin, Texas, was sold to another company.

There: New GoMa Hood
In North West Aurora is a new neighbourhood acquired for GoMa in There.
If you would like to rent and build your own area in There, here's your chance.
The hood is planned to have residential lots along three sides of a central general amenity area. The fourth side dips down towards a valley that leads ultimately to Eder Devokan, so this side will be developed as a gateway into the GoMa hood.
The plan is for houses to be low-level, light, modern architecture, with trees and shrubs used to soften outlines and add colour to the area.
Individuals who have already expressed an interest -- and even started building in some cases -- are Stejovis, Paislee, mateus, blutec, Soosi, Baron (and me Dot, of course).
If you would like to join us please go to the GoMa forum, to the New GoMa Hood thread for details. Thanks!

Open competition: exploring Camp Bravo's moon
To celebrate the final release of the Guild of Maintainers' Camp Bravo (an Age written by GoMa ADD Grandmaster Andy Legate), the Guild is sponsoring a competition open to all explorers.
The competition involves first exploring Camp Bravo by day and night -- either by using Uru:CC/ULM or by slide show/video.
Next (in their imagination), explorers kit themselves up with maintainer suit and backpack containing compass, water, food, rope and other essentials for a two-day hiking expedition, and set off exploring their chosen direction.
They report on their expedition in words, by photograph (aka computer image) or by sketch (scanned drawing), posting their reports and images on a thread on the Guild of Maintainers forum by 30 November 2008.
The best entries will be included in a journal for other explorers to enjoy in Camp Bravo.
Competition announcement and sign-up thread:
Final exploration reports and images should be posted here: Camp Bravo's moon: exploration reports.
